"The unlike is joined together, and from differences results the most beautiful harmony" Heraclitus

Lake Norman Featured Project

Davidson, North Carolina Residence, February 2023

We are grateful to be a part of this project, and to work alongside this client!  Together, we took this project from concept to completion. With a few more finishing touches, we can say we did it! Mission accomplished!

Site Plan

"Talented Designer" vs "Educated Artisan"

Like any art form, proper foundations are learned through higher education, a time of study under seasoned mentors, and years spent in repetitive production based on a set of rudimental standards.

"Talented Designer" is a description that is fun to wear, but the truth is, like any other profession, it is learned.

Nothing in design is ever really new.  It is almost always a re-production with a tweak, else it doesn't make sense. It won't balance, or the colors and textures do not seem to work. It just won't feel like it fits properly, because the fundamentals are not there...

Spaces, by design, need lines that fit the historical value and scale of the home. These "lines" need to integrate with the surroundings of the project as well. Spaces usually need an underlying axis as an anchoring reference (something on which to balance things).  They also need to function for the needs of the clients who live within them and use them.

These principals of design (along with many others) usually apply in all genres, whether it be Formal, Modern, Contemporary, Transitional, Traditional, Mediterranean, Tudor, Provencial, or Naturalistic.

These things are normally learned through higher education, and If one can achieve them consistently, they might just wear that badge that reads "Talented Designer" while considering themselves as just another "Educated Artisan" who put the time in.

Meet Us

Hi, my name is Curtis J. Boney, Licensed Landscape Architect in both North and South Carolina. With me is my wife Kristy!

I am the Founder and Lead Designer here at ReDux Design Group.  I have enjoyed over 25 years of experience in this industry as a Boutique Designer, Landscaper, Construction Manager, Contractor, and Landscape Architect.

My professional outlook has been greatly widened by years spent working with land development firms. Production time with pro-practice design only firms has given me the confidence to quickly generate good design work.  Working management positions within large design-build outfits has taught me to manage construction well..

We have traveled the country to be a part of residential projects in Chicago, New Orleans, Naples, West Palm Beach, Tampa, Memphis, Boston, and Pebble Beach.

We live here on Lake Norman, and we are focused on being the best landscape artisans in this Lake Norman Community!  We focus our efforts on Davidson, Huntersville, Cornelius, Denver, Mooresville, and Troutman Clients.

The home is where most of us take shelter for peace, rest, learning, and play.  Knowing this generates our primary goal:  We simply want to create an amazing space for you and your loved ones!

With an eye for appropriate thematic composition, good planning, and the administration of good construction practices, we can meet our budgets (large or small), build a reliable product, and attain a look that integrates well with both the home and its surroundings.

Inspiration

Charleston Trip April 2023

Seasonally, we take a trip to a place of culture, for inspiration in what we do.  This year, we chose Charleston South Carolina for its' Historic Vibe, Variety of Authentic Hardscape Material, and of course for its' wonderful display of Horticultural Obsessions.  The photography and catalogue of information that we were able to collect is outstanding!  If you haven't been, we highly recommend it!
